Egypt and the UAE recorded bilateral trade of nearly $9.68 billion in 2025. Egypt closed the year with a trade surplus of about $4.3 billion, according to Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid.
Egyptian exports to the UAE saw the sharpest change. They rose from $1.22 billion in 2021 to $6.99 billion in 2025 — a jump of roughly 475%. Imports moving the other way grew far more slowly, from $2.46 billion to $2.69 billion across the same stretch.
Farid gave these numbers while meeting UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi. Their talks centred on deepening trade and investment links between the two countries. Farid raised the case for closer work on digital transformation and automating government services, noting Egypt’s interest in tapping UAE expertise on digital platforms and easier procedures for investors.
The two ministers also looked at joint opportunities in African markets, along with projects that draw on strengths from both economies.
Farid made the case for Egypt as an investment destination, pointing to its infrastructure, industrial and logistics zones, and trade deals covering Arab, African, and European markets.
Both sides agreed to stay in close contact in the months ahead, push further cooperation between government and private business, and tackle barriers that investors face. The intent, officials said, is to open new paths for trade growth and investment.
Separate figures from Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics showed trade between the two countries up 71% year-on-year, reaching $5.4 billion for January through July 2025.
