Background 

Business analyst George Okoroma has partnered with the Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA) to lead a senior West African energy delegation to Aberdeen, strengthening business links between African energy companies and Scotland’s energy sector. The four-day programme, scheduled for early September, will run alongside the Energy Exports Conference. 

The initiative is designed to connect delegates with Scottish companies through business meetings, industry roundtables, networking events and site visits. Participants will also visit key facilities, including Aberdeen Harbour, and attend a private dinner with senior industry leaders. 

The partnership combines SABA’s business network across Scotland and Africa with Okoroma’s relationships in West Africa’s energy and engineering sectors. Organisers said the programme will provide structured introductions and targeted discussions to help companies explore commercial partnerships and technology collaboration. 

The delegation comes as West African countries continue expanding their energy sectors while increasing investment in cleaner energy solutions. Scotland’s expertise in offshore energy, subsea engineering, offshore wind, hydrogen, carbon capture and asset management is expected to create opportunities for knowledge sharing and business cooperation. 

The programme will include discussions on oil and gas optimisation, renewable energy, well intervention, investment models and future energy systems. Organisers said the delegation will remain limited in size to encourage productive meetings and meaningful engagement among participants. 

Following the visit, Okoroma will continue supporting West African energy companies seeking long-term business development opportunities in Aberdeen and across Scotland. The organisers expect the initiative to strengthen commercial ties and encourage future collaboration between the two regions.
