Background-
The inaugural Alamein Africa Forum will bring together Heads of State and business leaders from across the continent when it opens in Alamein, Egypt, running alongside the 2026 African Union mid-year summit.
The African Union mandated the forum as a permanent African Business Forum to convene every two years in Egypt, and organizers plan to position it as the continent’s leading venue linking political power with entrepreneurial growth.
Presidents from Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Libya, Senegal, Somalia and South Africa are expected to attend, alongside Egyptian President Al Sisi, who hosts this year’s AU Mid-Year Summit.
Business leaders confirmed to join include MTN’s Ralph Mupita, Coris Bank’s Idrissa Nassa, Attijariwafa Bank’s Mohamed El Ketani, Groupe Shakira’s Hichem Eloumi and Oando’s Wale Tinubu, along with industrialist Aliko Dangote. Organizers hope to launch a Business Advisory Council to advance private sector priorities across the continent.
The Government of Egypt, Afreximbank, the African Union and AUDA-NEPAD co-organize the forum, which aims to align policy and investment priorities and strengthen financing pathways under the AU’s Agenda 2063 masterplan.
Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty said the forum would connect the private sector, investment institutions and decision-makers, describing it as part of a series of high-level African events Egypt plans to host in early October. Afreximbank President Dr. George Elombi called the forum a platform for boosting intra-African trade and investment.
