Background-
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has invited African leaders and business figures to the first Alamein-Africa Business Forum, set for October 2-4, 2026, in New Alamein.
Madbouly extended the invite while speaking at the African Union’s Extraordinary Summit in Luanda, Angola, where leaders met to discuss stronger conflict prevention across the continent. He stood in for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the meeting, joined by Angolan President João Lourenço, Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, and other African heads of state.
He thanked Angola for hosting the summit at what he called a difficult time for Africa, citing poverty, climate change, water shortages, terrorism, and organized crime as key drivers of instability. Madbouly urged African nations to work together through the African Union and regional bodies to tackle these root causes.
He also spoke about rebuilding nations after conflict, calling it a central part of Africa’s peace strategy rather than an afterthought. Noting that the African Union’s post-conflict policy turns 20 this year, he said the moment offers a chance to turn plans into real action, focused on roads, power, water, schools, hospitals, and jobs.
Madbouly also renewed Egypt’s push for reforming the African Union’s Peace and Security Council, including a third seat for North Africa.
He closed by confirming Egypt will host the Eighth African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in New Alamein on October 4, alongside the new business forum aimed at boosting African trade and economic ties.
