Background:

Saudi Arabia’s car market is growing with new REEV hybrid cars at the Riyadh EV Auto Show 2025. One of the main participants was Rox Motors, a fast-growing Chinese carmaker that introduced its new hybrid model, the Adamas. The vehicle uses an updated REEV system that blends the convenience of fuel with the efficiency of electric power.

Ahmed Al-Obaidi, CEO of Rox KSA, said the system lets gasoline produce electricity directly. Part of the fuel powers a generator to charge the battery, while another portion goes to an extender that boosts the electric output. He added that this design is ideal for Saudi drivers, offering a balance of performance, efficiency, and practicality.

Al-Obaidi added that while REEV systems have previously been introduced in the Kingdom, Rox’s latest model includes smarter energy conversion and faster charging, ensuring improved performance in both urban and long-distance driving conditions.

Another highlight came from Icaur, a brand under the Chery Group, which introduced its new V27 model. The car is built on the latest REEV platform and can travel up to 800 km on a single charge. It also uses almost 50% less fuel than regular engines, making it a more efficient and eco-friendly option.

Icaur’s Country Director, George Xi, said the design provides reliable performance in Saudi Arabia’s high temperatures, combining extended range with reduced oil dependency. The V27 runs on two motors: one converts fuel into electricity, and the other drives the car. This setup gives a smooth, quiet, and powerful ride.

Icaur said the V27 will officially launch in February 2026, with online pre-orders opening at the end of November.

The presence of Rox Motors and Icaur at the show highlights Saudi Arabia’s growing role in the global move toward hybrid and electric vehicles, supporting the country’s goal of cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
