The International Nurses Day declaration reaffirms the UAE’s support for employees who work in the health sector.

Key Facts :

The Golden Visa awards a 10-year residency permit, giving winners and dependents the freedom to live and work in the UAE without a local sponsor.

The prize is eligible for nurses and midwives who have worked for Dubai Health for more than 15 years.

Key Background :

In an attempt to show appreciation to doctors, Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has stated that more than 1,400 nurses and midwives working for Dubai Health are eligible for the highly coveted UAE Golden Visa. The move, taken on International Nurses Day, is to reward the medical professionals who have contributed to the health sector in Dubai. The move shows the gratitude of the country towards the contribution of nurses and midwives to society.

Dubai Health is a network of six hospitals, 26 health centers, and 21 medical fitness centers with approximately 9,411 employees. Approximately 4,400 of them are nurses, and almost a third of those who have served for more than 15 years are eligible for the Golden Visa. Midwives who served the same long period are also awarded the visa.

The UAE Golden Visa grants the beneficiary, and his/her family members, a 10-year residence privilege to live, work in, and exit the UAE without requiring a local sponsor. It forms part of the general vision of the UAE to keep highly valuable professional expertise in strategic sectors, one of them being the healthcare sector. With the world already poised to be struck by an impending global deficit of 4.1 million nurses in 2030, the campaign aims to instill stability and appreciation among the country’s healthcare professionals so that the UAE is made the medical professionals’ hub of choice.

The champions welcomed the news with open hearts. Suha Saleh Mustafa Trab, who is a nurse at Al Twar Primary Health Centre, talked about how being awarded to her and to everyone else was big, and Vandana Vasudevan, who is an Indian 19-year-old midwife at Latifa Hospital, told us about feeling direction and positive growth in Dubai. This turnaround shows the UAE’s willingness to attract and retain talent in health and to bridge up to medical greatness as well.
