Background :

The Arab African Investors Association plans to host the Arab-African Global Business Summit in Cairo, Egypt, from May 29 to June 2, 2026. The event is expected to bring together governments, investors, and business leaders to strengthen economic ties between Arab and African countries.

The Executive Director of the Association, HRH Princess OluToyin Abod-Onagoruwa, disclosed the plans while speaking to journalists on Monday. She said the Association is ready to mobilise more than $100bn in investment commitments through the summit, with a strong focus on key growth sectors.

According to Abod-Onagoruwa, the targeted sectors include energy, minerals, food production, and digital industries. She noted that the summit aims to speed up funding into these areas to support long-term development across both regions.

She said the global economy is facing major challenges, including broken supply chains, climate pressure, population changes, fast-moving technology, and geopolitical tensions. These challenges, she added, are pushing countries and investors to search for new centres of growth, stability, and shared prosperity.

The Executive Director stated that the summit will help unlock the combined economic potential of Arab and African regions. She said together, the two regions can emerge as a unified global force with the ability to shape world markets, improve supply chains, and promote sustainability.

Abod-Onagoruwa also said the event will promote economic cooperation, peace building, and regional stability. It will connect global investors with emerging market opportunities and support small and medium-sized enterprises, micro businesses, and youth-led innovations.

She added that the summit is designed to inspire governments, chief executives, investors, multilateral institutions, sovereign wealth funds, innovators, and global change makers to work together for shared economic progress.
